Nest Building

Location

Montana, USA

This photo gallery shows how a mountain bluebird builds her nest in preparation for laying eggs. Nest building takes about a week. The female does all the work. She gathers grass, and sometimes animal hair or human-made items. Then she weaves a neat cup, rotating her body to achieve a snug fit for incubating eggs.
